Amaka Agbakoba shares her poem I am Poetic with Jacanabooks.
In this poem, she explores a season of pain that brought enlightenment and healing. She writes "dusty dreams full of cherries and berries and bursts of skittles only I could lull about. I had no one to weep to but the stars who ever so valiantly sprinkled vials of gold on dusty dreams that have since taken flight.
One thing is certain after reading, you are inspired. Amaka takes you to the realm where all things are possible when you hold on to your dreams. She confronts her fears as she steps out into the heavens of her words.

I am Poetic
Hey Darling, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the profound gift that you gave me
You see leaving me at my weakest when even the deep did not want me meant that I had no place to go but upwards towards the light
Remember all those dreams you just smiled at and shook your head knowing they were just not good enough?
Dusty dreams full of cherries and berries and bursts of skittles only I could lull about
I had no one to weep to but the stars who ever so valiantly sprinkled vials of gold dust on dusty dreams that have since taken flight
Ever wonder how I have come to be known as the truth teller?
You, my love, fed me myriad lies until its consequences burn my very existence and no longer can I bear its shame
I thank you for shutting the door to Us and opening the door to a Me I never realized existed
I have since found that an entire universe exists within my very soul
Finally, I want to thank you for the gift of letting me soar free
I have made a home in the beauty of my poetic
