Charity of the Week

Love Human Society | Founder, Jay Sahni Saves Edmonton One Hot Meal at a Time| Charity of the Week

Love human society is a non-profit organization that help people in need. When you look around Edmonton today, you see people in need. A lot of homeless people in downtown Edmonton. Poverty is an issue. Some six hours away, people have lost/are losing their homes to raging wildfires. Love Human Society, founded by CIBC Mortgage Advisor and Diversity Magazine, Guest of the Week Host, Jay Sahni has a heart for downtown Edmonton where it appears homelessness is a problem. He told Jacanabooks "he wants to do even more to help".

What does Love Human Society do?
They have a small army of people in charge of distributing food and clothing to the homeless. They distribute wheelchairs to the disabled. In South India, they build toilets for poor people and feed people in the slums. Love Human Society is as relevant here as it is in South India. They feel they may have hit a nerve of a group who feel abandoned by Edmonton. These are seniors who are homeless and in need of a hot meal and a change of clothes. They also cater to people of every age. When you see how they come out for food, it feels like a humanitarian crisis. At their last event, they served over 200 elders with a hot meal.

How can you help?

Like every charity, they are in dire need of donations. They need packaged food. They would appreciate your donations of new, not used adult size socks, shoes, gloves and jackets. They cook their food in a commercial kitchen. Please send bags of rice, onions, pepper and other raw ingredients to them.

Cheques can be sent to  Love Human Society or you can give cash. They will provide you with a receipt for every donation.
